Hi fellow followers here are a few of my first draft designs and pages out of my sketchbook where my inspiration comes from. I hope you like them x

My thoughts and ideas on my research at this stage are that in a futuristic apocalyptic world scrapping of fabric would feature heavily. Recycling of old clothes to create new ones, patchwork and layers for convenience of altering a single garment to comply with the weather.

When the team and I were given the capsule collection brief we thought about a post apocalyptic world and what it would be like.
I told them them of a TV show I used to watch when I was in high school called "The Tribe", it was based on a post apocalyptic world after a virus had wiped out all the adults and the only survivors were teenagers and children. They formed tribes and fought to survive.
Having told my team members about this we started researching tribes, military and post apocalyptic possibilities.
I thought I would share some photos and a web link for the first episode of the TV show. I found them very influential of what the possibility of a post apocalyptic tribe could look like.

I was searching for some Post Apocalyptic images for my sketchbook for some inspiration and I found this photo. It was designed by Holly Taylor, modeled by Natalie Gibson and photographed by David Hickey.
It was designed in 2010 with a post apocalyptic future in mind. I think It's brilliant and really reflects a post apocalyptic look with what could have been a tribal influence.
Gareth Pugh
This is my favourite designer at the moment, Gareth Pugh again. Post apocalyptic style with a tribal hair do. I'm loving the shoulder wrap made from white rats! very odd but great in a bizarre way! I don't think they are real although I'm not sure.
Gareth Pugh S/S 2010 collection. "post apocalyptic poetry"

Gareth Pugh is not only a designer but a poet. His poetry not only flows in words but fabric!
As well as the photo's of this collection I thought I would share with you his collection on the catwalk.

Gareth Pugh's work on this collection is dark and edgy, this to me would reflect the mood of people in an apocalyptic world.
I really like Gareth Pugh's work he looks beyond what is deemed as "normal" and pushes boundaries. He exaggerates seams and panels to create new looks. I like  the way most of this collection in particular could be male or female as well as the scrapping look and use of "stringy" knit.
